How to dress up in Italy during winter

Finally it snowed in Italy, at least in the Northern. So, if you are packing to go there for the holidays, keep in mind that the weather can be really cold, especially at night.

So, even if you want to be the queen of the party, or you want to look great while clubbing or sipping an aperitivo with friends, just keep in mind that a pair of jeans, maybe the dark one, having some sparkling strass on it, is very popular in the country.

If you want to dress up with skirts, then wear them with some light sweaters, or some wrinkle-resistant button-down shirts or some black or brown blouses. In fact, those are the most used colors not only during the Fall-Winter season 2012, but also in these early months of the year.

Where students go to eat in Turin

A very famous place where students go for lunch is the M** Bun slow fast food. The word in Piedmontese means “it’s good” and it referres to the delicious hamburgers you can order every day from 11.30 am to 11 pm (on Monday it opens at 12 pm).

They are all tasty and usually students ask for the “Chiel” (“Him”) filled with toma cheese first, and end with the succulent “Gaute mac da suta” (“Go away from down there”), a burger which is stuffed with onions and bacon. There you can find a new fresh kind of hambuger for every season, according to the ingredients available during that particular period of time.

Monday night in Turin is TANDEM aperitivo time!

The academic year has begun last Monday, and Turin looks like totally different: so many students walk in the street to go to class, to buy books, to find an accommodation, to try to understand how university life is.

On Mondays there is the TANDEM aperitivo at the Zero bar located in Via Vanchiglia at the corner with  Piazza Vittorio, where you can enjoy the happy hour talking different languages (mostly English, actually) to the Erasmus people. It is called “tandem” because it should be an occasion where both you and your new friend can practice a different language (English in your case, Italian for the foreigner), and you can really have fun there. From 7 pm you can have access to the buffet (literally, you can really eat as much as you want) and drink one drink just for 5€.
