Singles’ Day: the day after Saint Valentine’s

Since Saint Valentine’s Day is only celebrated by happy couple who are in love, such as boyfriend and girlfriend, husband and wife, etc. it’s such a depressing day for all the people who are still single and don’t have their Valentine.

So, instead of locking themselves in the house, crying and eating popcorn while watching some chick flick movies such as “Bridget Jones’s Diary”, Italians found a better solution as protest for a day in which chocolates, heart and roses are the only things you can see around.

The solution is organizing another festivity, which is called Singles’ Day. I swear I am not kidding, believe me and learn more about this holiday.

It’s celebrated on February 15th, which is the feast of Saint Faustino. Why has he became the patron of singles and why is his figure related to this event?

We don’t know a lot about his history, and the only things we are sure about is that he is related to some episodes back during the Roman Empire. He helped so many young girls to find partners and lovers, and this is the mission God gave him. In fact his name comes from Latin and it means both “protection” and “luck”.

For this reason Saint Faustino is seen a very bright outlook for those who haven’t find his/her soulmate yes and are still looking for the person of his/her life.

That’s the story in which we want to believe and on that day we organize singles-only parties, in order to have more chance to find new friends and maybe a lover, or at least someone hot and good looking with whom having a couple of drinks.

In the biggest cities, such as Milan and Turin, you can easily find big events organized in discos for free. So, good luck and have fun!
